Easy Masking Fluid Watercolor Art Tutorial
Hello again! It’s Torrie from Fox + Hazel. Today I have another really great beginner watercolor project. If you read my last watercolor post, then you’ll be familiar with layering watercolors to create a fun abstract effect. In this tutorial, I’ve added another really fun element – masking fluid! This masking fluid watercolor painting is great for beginners and novices alike. You only need a handful of supplies and about an hour to create this piece from start to finish!
If you’re wondering what in the world masking fluid is then let me fill you in. Masking fluid is painted on to your paper and it dries to a rubbery finish. The masking fluid creates a seal on the top of your paper. This is so that no paint will be absorbed by the paper. This is super useful in watercolor paintings. An artist uses it to maintain a crisp white area, or when she wants to layer colors with only parts being covered. In this tutorial, I’ll be showing you how you can use masking fluid to letter. Combined with layered watercolor shapes, it creates a really fun art piece!
